Getting to Know Josh Adam

As our inaugural season approaches, we wanted to give you more of an introduction to the players who will represent Lansing Common on the field this summer. Today, it’s time to get to know Josh Adam.

What position do you play and what do you think Lansing Common fans will enjoy most about the way you play?

I play center back, I think the fans would enjoy the way I control and lead the team with communication to help direct the team.

What is the #1 thing you are hoping to work on with the team this season?

I would like to work on team chemistry and building relationships with each of the players so that when it comes to game time we are working together in sync.

You passed up an offer at one point to join the Portland Timbers MLS academy. How hard was that decision? And a few years later, how do you feel about the path you’ve been on since then?

Passing up the opportunity to go out of state to play with Portland Timbers academy is definitely a hard choice that I had to make. But the way things have been going I believe I made the right choice. I believe that continuing my career with MSU and playing with Lansing Common will help me achieve my goals just as well as going to play for the Timbers academy. I’m happy with my decision and I’m excited to be playing for Lansing Common.

An article about you in the Livingston Daily talked a bit about your path to a captain role in Brighton, saying that you started preparing for that role when you were a freshman. You are kind of entering a similar role on this team, as you will easily be one of the youngest on the team. Do you think you can still be a leader in some ways, despite playing with so many vets?

Age is no issue for me. I believe that communication is key to a successful team and not only will I be helping the team but I will be getting the same in return from some of the older players. The more leaders on the team the better our gameplay will be.

What was your favorite moment you have ever had on a soccer field?

My favorite soccer moment on the field is winning the last second of the game in the district finals. Being the reason for the build-up counterattack it was a great feeling to be one of the reasons the team won.

What hobbies do you have when you aren’t playing soccer?

When I’m not playing soccer, I’m the summer time I like golfing with my friends and in the winter I enjoy playing ice hockey with my friends and playing tournaments. I also enjoy spending time with my family and doing things together with them.
